Pros

Product line is good, Jackson employees are motivated, benefits are excellent.

Cons

Most management positions are hired from the outside so there is little chance for advancement. I considered my immediate Georgia supervisor completely out of touch with what was happening at Jackson. His remarks to me demonstrated a total lack of understanding of his what his subordinates did and how the processes worked. Very litle communication, and when there was, it was superficial and incompetent. I'm pretty sure he spent most of his time trying to justify his career position, he certainly didn't do much meaningful management.

Advice to Management

Since the product line is good, and middle management of the company is demonstratedly poor, there needs to be a re-evaluation of current management strategy and Atlanta needs to get in touch with the divisions. They are completely out of touch with reality. If AGCO management continues along this path, They will become a sweet target for aquisition and dismemberment by a company that knows how to efficiently manage.

    - Upward mobility is possible but difficult
    - Mid-management is impossible to deal with in any intelligent manner.

Realign management philisophy around the fact that satisified and well-treated employees will positively affect your bottom line.

    Pros

Work hard and you can advance. Some departments promote from within. Great benefits (health and dental) compared to similar companies.

    Cons

Some employees do not view tasks with urgency. Mediocracy is accepted and is more of the norm. Nights and weekends can be the norm.

    Advice to Management

Huge strategy department but not much strategy. Would be nice to know which way he ship is going. Not good communication.
