I have been working at AHS full-time

    Pros

Great pay & benefits, PTO, fun events to boost company morale, paid training, shift differential

    Cons

Customers are often irate, not enough help when you ask a question, explaining to customers their issue isn't covered & giving them the out of pocket costs.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time explaining how to handle escalated calls if the customer demands a supervisor.

    I worked at AHS full-time

    Pros

No shortage of work. Chance to work at home (for this position) if want to if you live near one of their hubs. Chance to learn a lot about home repairs you can use in your personal life (more valuable than you think, it will make you a more realistic homeowner). Meet some great people you thought you'd never relate to. My office had a family atmosphere but has been closed. The co-workers and office environment were the best aspect of the job. Several larger locations remain open.

    Cons

Sometimes not ethical, need to be better staffed to decrease hold times for customers and vendors. Customers are among some of the worst I have ever spoken to, little support from managers when calls go awry. **Customer's don't understand the product and don't take the time to become educated.** No time between calls and reps are expected to make notes as they are answering the next call. Pressure-cooker environment abated only by the short slow seasons during the spring and fall.

    Advice to Management

You need to get it together as far as being properly staffed is concerned. No one should have to wait on the phones more than a few minutes. Don't lie to employees about not closing the office and then closing it months later. Focus on quality of response to customers and vendors, not phone occupancy. Support your reps with aggressive calls and recognize the callers share some of the blame. Be open to the talents of everyone, actively seek out the hidden talents of your employees. Don't just favor the most social employees. Be open to direct feedback without being offended.
