Pros

Initially high starting salary Location of Corporate Office has nice views. Nice area downtown; good restaurants; right next to the Seaport.

Cons

Culture is still not team oriented. Lower level decision making is not rewarded and often penalized due to probably the worst RPR system on the planet! Performance is not measured based on accomplishment. Performance is measured based on collective voting by managers who may or may not know what you do (old GE model) using an equal distribution between groups of jobs that are put together with no connection in functionality. This was obviously a "knee jerk" reaction to the public outcry of executive salaries after the bailout and was not well thought out.

Advice to Management

Need to commit to a total cultural change, because the way things are going nobody in their right mind will ever tell you the truth if they want to keep their jobs. Right now, I do not see this Company surviving with the type of people you are retaining. I say retaining, because only employees who don't care and want to coast will remain with AIG given the current environment there.

    Pros

Huge global reach offering opportunities throughout the financial services sector. Instant brand recognition throughout the world. World leader in insurance offerings.

    Cons

2008 bailout effectively destroyed brand reputation. Sale of key business units to repay the government shrunk the company and eliminated some of its critical competitive advantages. Internal atmosphere still is negative and financial decision-making controlled by the Fed/Govt. Future outlook remains uncertain.

    Advice to Management

Remove the remaining management that had key responsibilities for the AIG crisis.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Colleagues are generally nice A good place to learn new technology if you are lucky enough to land a nice project

    Cons

Too many different, and changing, processes Management Communication is not the greatest

    Advice to Management

Focus on the long term benefit when making strategic changes. Cost savings in the short run will always come back to haunt the company.
