I have been working at AIG full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Work from home opportunity. Benefits are ok.

Cons

Management in the DBA unit operate as a high school clique that only benefits each other. There are no minority's or people of color in any Management, Sr Examiner or Leadership position in the Global Claims department. Career growth opportunity and bonus are given based on popularity, physical appearance and social club status. The same "pack" of managers came to AIG from a previous company. Work from home opportunity is unfairly used. They lookout for their own.

Advice to Management

Grow up and stop operating business as if it is a college party mixed with the "good old boys club".

I have been working at AIG as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Location. Staff is quite friendly.

    Cons

Terrible working environment, much hostility between teams leading to very little collaboration. Management is cutting staff without much thought to how those cuts will affect different projects. Workload is such that hearing of people working 80-100 hour weeks is not uncommon.

    Advice to Management

They need to stop and think before they commit to their actions. For example, cutting staff cuts costs, and is necessary. But first you should look to see if your cuts begin to clog up work in other units. Also, listen to your staff, they are the ground soldiers and ignoring their ideas and complaints only creates larger problems and creates a bad image.
