Run while you can- Worst place to work EVER!Apr 26, 2021 - Store Manager in Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness Outlook
Discount on merchandise that is already overpriced.
Horrible training. No organization. You are treated like property. If you work for Akira, you live for Akira. They make you believe you're one purpose in life is to make them money. They will keep you in the store late, past closing, and expect you to call people to make sales over the phone to make your days budget. Your job is threatened and held over you if you don't do what they ask. The entire company culture is a cult. Monthly unpaid, meetings in their warehouse, which for some is a good 2-4 hours away, and you're expected to be there on time at 7am. Again, they don't pay you for those hours, or reimburse you for the travel. Its a toxic environment, with greedy owners and delusional DM's. They all play favorites, and allow employees to steal and cheat from them, as long as they are making sales. The entire dynamic of this company is like a middle school playground. I can't say a single positive thing that I've learned from working there, other than it showed me how much better life could be out of retail, and that you should never let a company take advantage of you like they do.Continue reading

Love being able to have creative freedom & work with a team that is passionate about knowing & taking care of the clients. This is a different retail from any place I’ve ever worked in a positive way!
Retail is not for the week.
