I worked at AMIDEAST as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

You do get to be a part of an organization doing great work, and most of the coworkers are friendly.

Cons

Not a lot of cross-office communication, and the differences between the regulars and management is usually pretty stark.

Advice to Management

Work on creating a more cohesive whole and the organization can improve that much more.

    I worked at AMIDEAST full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and vacation. Overall good work/life balance. Well-respected and well-established organization with a positive mission. The young and entry-level staff are very energetic and motivated, although staff who have been there longer seem to have low morale.

    Cons

Poor communication from top leadership and human resources, low pay and lack of transparency about bonuses, low morale in some departments

    Advice to Management

Value and trust your employees more, provide better communication and training across the organization, offer telecommuting and maternity leave

"If you're a young professional, motivated, or interested in engaging with your work, AMIDEAST is not for you."

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at AMIDEAST as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gives a different insight into international affairs. Most of the people working here are very sweet but keep to themselves. Office is low-key and mellow. There are certain office activities such as coffee hour every month and a brown-bag lunch series.

    Cons

Definitely not a place for young professionals or people with aspirations for their career. Very little enthusiasm for the work being completed. The Fulbright side may have a better environment, but for the most part there is small traces of a community.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to consider their employees. Myself and multiple other coworkers were forced into making an on the spot decision and were not allowed to negotiate schedule or pay. AMIDEAST is very aggressive about hiring but very uninvolved
