    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Quite flexible when it comes to shift swaps
Keen eye for health and safety
Good for a part time job

    Cons

    Highly unprofessional managers
Adamant about staff working either Saturday or Sunday (company policy blindly obeyed by all managers - even when it's not the case)
Poor flexibility with regards to changing departments and no job rotation
Paid less in comparison to the other BIG 3 retailers (Sainsburys, Morissons and TESCO)
Very monotonous work at times, but this is more characteristic of the industry rather than ASDA in particular

    Advice to Management

Senior managers should be more carefully selected. My manager could not even spell properly (when leaving messages for checkout supervisors) and clearly did not have adequate communication and interpersonal skills to be in that position. Middle management is very poor, which probably is one of the factors leading to such a high turnover rate.

    Pros

Can make some really good friends and have good banter at work; Most workers are friendly and acknowldgable; The work is not difficult and theres is always someone nearby and easy to approach if help is needed

    Cons

Job can become really repetitive; Managers can sometimes be under alot of pressure at certain times and can be quite snappy

    Advice to Management

Ageism issues ar rife at the ASDA store I work within and many managerial figures can be very rude and ignorant in the way they speak to collugues. Whether this is just a personal opinion from the store I work in or it is an issue on a bigger scale, i feel managers should be advised or chosen on there people skills and communication skills as it is a vital part of working in retail.
