I have been working at ASDA full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good environment
Colleagues respect each other
Interesting work
good variety in tasks
fun events in the atrium
office is in a great location for easy travelling

Cons

Pay is below average and NEVER gets increased
Work is not recognized by management
Progression opportunity is poor no matter how many successes you have, if you dont look the part and work 7am-7pm you have no chance.
Work/Life balance is poor even if your work is done, leaving at office closing hours will leave people glaring at you.

Advice to Management

Stop people working such long hours, if a job is taking someone 12 hours a day then obviously 2 people are needed to do the job. This would really help work/life balance and productivity.

    Pros

many opportunities for time off (gap years etc.).
ok pay. especially for under 18's who get the same rate as over 18's

    Cons

recent hour cuts have made work loads insane at times.
ASDA house, the overriding body. get far too involved without ever working shop floor themselves. something that looks goo on paper never works properly in practice, but we have little or no opinion or voice in that operation.

I worked at ASDA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

10% Discount card, double discount day in November, annual bonus, great colleagues, and great xmas parties. The store social fund also organises great days out too. The company also has a good ladder of promotion but please read below too.

    Cons

Does not pay its home shopping drivers extra compared to that of a shelf replen assistant etc... Management treat colleagues very poorly, and will discipline/dismiss colleagues on a whim. You can work long hours in a very stressful environment, and contracted hours are very poor. The company does not have good relations with trade unions etc... and will frequently ask colleagues to do unreasonable tasks. It is extremely difficult to progress within the company, with a 'if your face fits' policy.

    Advice to Management

Look after your colleagues better, treat them with respect and dignity. A seperate pay rate for home shopping drivers that spend long hours on the road wouldn't go a miss either.
