Pros

Prompt HR actions, recruiters will respond to ex-employee job queries. Has some DoD contracts, 401K depends on contract and may not be applicable.

Cons

if contract ends, usually no follow on employment, Tenure expires after one year if not rehired. Hires PM's from other DoD contracts who have been phased out or pending downsize.

Advice to Management

Give employees access to corp intraLAN for job postings, Use DELTEK for timecards
to save money.

I have been working at ASRC Federal Holding Company (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of wonderful people who have devoted their days to the success of the company. Many who sacrifice regularly to ensure quality software products. The work flow has been there for so many years much of the "process" happens seamlessly. They epitomize effective use of CMMi and effective teamwork.

    Cons

There's a lot of cultural change going - For a group of people who has operated one way for a long time - the change has created an environment of uneasiness.

    Advice to Management

During this time when the contractual environment is changing, as well as the corporate culture, try to provide some level of stability for a fractured set of employees. Even if it isn't company funded, providing social outlets - or more "round table" brown bag lunches with upper management for the worker bees would go a long way to help employee moral.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at ASRC Federal Holding Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    The people are friendly.
    Flexible hours.
Lots of down time (if you are in to that).

    Cons

Poor company foresight and apathy at getting new business outside defense sector.
Lots of down time (if you are not in to that).
Job experience not easily transferable to private sector.
    Not using modern development processes.
No room for advancement or growth.
Continued employment outlook is not good do to Government budget cuts.

    Advice to Management

You can't rely totally on defense and Government work, especially with one client, as demonstrated by the Sequestration budget cuts. It was suggested years ago that you try to get some private sector work. That suggestion was ignored, which resulted in MSE suffering heavily with the recent Government budget cuts and the CEO/President being outsted.
