    Pros

Good compensation, especially if you're willing to work extra hours. No issues with working overtime. Put your time in and you can bid for a decent schedule once you gain seniority. Fair 401k matching of 6%. About 3 weeks of paid time off after one year. Although not very powerful, there is a union that requires a regimented process for any performance based discipline (i.e., you can miss quotas for up 4 months before being terminated).

    Cons

Policies are constantly changing. Management expects you to get more and more out of every customer while still maintaining a high "customer experience score". Commission is based on a bucket amount of sales. During holidays or IPhone launches, the bucket goal will substantially rise but the payout stays the same. Someone at a slower store will earn as much as you by doing half the work. Recognition is given, but seems insincere and only leads to higher goals in future months. Upper management (district and above) is regularly changing, and you never know what hidden agendas they may have. I started under Cingular Wireless over 7 years ago, and since the AT&T merger in 2005, in has been a slow but steady transformation into an overall more stressful and less satisfying place to work.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic in your expectations. What makes sense in a boardroom doesn't always make sense to the consumer. Take more advice from your retail store leaders and less from your directors and above who have never worked a day in a store. Understand that front line employees are people and not robots and make mistakes. They can only be pushed so hard.
