I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Pay recently went up.

    Cons

Extremely micro managed. Pressured to work fast. You must cut corners to obtain monthly numbers provided by atnt. Those that do quality work take longer to complete jobs and are then pressured by management to get more done. In time everyone gives in and starts to cut corners to keep management off your back. It really is a tough place to work. Especially if you take pride in doing a good job. Unfortunately you... will have to slap stuff together and move to the next one. It really sucks

    Advice to Management

It's not there fault. Really level 1and 2 managers are just number pushers. There job really consists of approving time and pressuring techs to work faster. They at some point gave to decide what's more important- having a happy team that gets along or a healthy paycheck....most ,after a year or 2 choose paycheck. And so starts the cat and mouse game. They can't fire you for your numbers but will find something else... to get you for.....seen it time and time again. Tech's that do quality work are fired cause they are slow. Good work takes time but the company doesn't see it that way. The guys that cut corners succeed, it's a tricky game that everyone is forced to play

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Decent benefits- that’s about it

    Cons

HORRIBLE COMPANY! Constant layoffs! Management has also restricted Telecommuting. Employees used to be able to work from home all the time- now it is limited to 4 times a month. Impossible to find workspace at corporate locations- everything is “drop in” and you need to haul all your stuff into the office daily. Long hours and absolutely NO WORK LIFE BALANCE. Management does not care that you have a life... outside of “the Death Star”. Try to leave or work from home with a sick kid, and you get written up! And I am a high level IT professional.

    Advice to Management

IT employees need the flexibility you once gave us. We have ZERO WORK LIFE BALANCE. Over time, the best and brightest WILL LEAVE ATT. My coworkers and I are all just marking time. Waiting for the surplus and package- at which time we will take our talents elsewhere. ATT will be left only with the employees on the right side of the bell curve who are nowhere approaching top Talent if they don’t change the... culture DRASTICALLY TO BE MORE EMPLOYEE DRIVEN!
