Long history of service and good people. Salaries are slightly above average; good vacation and benefits.

Cons

Leadership is focused on financials, not employees.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Still a big name in corporate America, with good market share. Stock prices have been amazingly strong the past few years.

    Cons

Not much training for managers. Many are lacking in social/emotional skills and ill-prepared to lead. Its not their fault, upper management doesn't value them enough to properly equip them.

    Advice to Management

Pay more real attention (not just lip-service) to the fact that your Human Resources are your greatest assets. Listen to them, trust them, and follow through. You have had very poor attempts at doing this in the past, and ignored the potential for greatness.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*True entry-level position in technical support
    *It's a good resume builder
    *Training staff is (mostly) good
    *Middle management can be great

    Cons

*Lack of consistency in quality of management
*It's easy for "entry-level" to become "dead end"
*Benefits and wages could be better for the stressful and frequently difficult work environment
*Scheduling flexibility is a joke- unless you have seniority, it's difficult to get a schedule that doesn't involve working early, late or on weekends
*Budget cuts have changed the work environment; incentives & perks in the workplace have been mostly removed (such as coffee in the kitchens)
*Constant upheaval and reorganization makes it difficult for workers to be proficient in their jobs

    Advice to Management

You're always trying to identify how to improve the customer experience. In order to have happy customers you need to have happy employees. People who enjoy their jobs and are happy to come to work will make that extra effort that you're constantly seeking from your customer-facing service employees.
