I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Excellent company overall, great educational program - keeps the workforce trained on newest technologies and helping give the company an edge. Majority of workforce is dedicated to their jobs. Exceptional benefits.

Cons

Large company, laid off due to economy.

Advice to Management

Upper management should be more aware of individuals work performance during layoffs and the employees who are actually doing the work and not layoff people looking at org charts.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Decent work-life balance
    - Good 401K and matching program
    - Workforce Diversity

    Cons

    - Too bureaucratic and siloed
    - Too much deadwood
    - Too rooted in a POTS (plain old telephone) mentality and bureaucratic when wireless is now their primary business
    - Their customers hate them

    Advice to Management

Bring in more senior/exec management from outside to bring in fresh ideas and new ways of thinking/doing business
Bring your marketing salaries up to make them more competitive (haven't had more than a nominal raise (<1%) in 4 years
    More opportunities for career mobility

    I worked at AT&T part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Training actually helps if you take it seriously.
    Pay is decent for retail.
    Free phone and service.

    Cons

    Horrible management.
Goals get higher and higher but thats normal for commissioned jobs i think.

    Advice to Management

Try not to hire the biggest ass kisser.
    Treat your employees with respect.
Consistently micromanaging isn't going to help, your reps hear it everyday. If someone constantly hears the same thing over and over eventually it will be meaningless.
