Recommends
Positive Outlook

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Job-security is better than industry. Recession or not, haven't see layoffs in years now. Work-life balance depends on your manager. Most cases, it's laid back.

Cons

Tough telecommuting policies.
Insistance on re-location to Dallas if seeking promotion to Director levels.

Advice to Management

Ease up on the co-location and telecommuting policies

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Middle management is high quality people with good work ethic, professionalism and skill.
Wireless business is growth and interesting.

    Cons

Bureaucratic. Slow moving. Lack of career opportunity. Lack of motivation and true engagement of middle and lower management.

    Advice to Management

Give more true authority and spend control to middle and lower management. Give more recognition. Be more flexible. Accelerate decision making.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It is a steady job. For now.

    Cons

Very political, too many contractors, too much outsourcing. Methinks they will move all operations out in a few years.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring contractors, local or otherwise. And no- I don't mean just convert your contractors to full-time. If you cannot find people for the current technology stack you are using, maybe improve pay. People are not interchangeable and skills/domain knowledge that are acquired by years of experience and education will take a toll with constant churn.
