I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good pay, benefits, tuition reimbursement and job security (unionized)

Cons

Dealing with the general public (people can be really insensitive, rude and just plain dumb) .... hard to move up due to company politics, must be a way above average seller to get promoted to manager (or be someones favorite). the attendance policy is weak.. you get a point even if you are sick and have a doc note. whats the point of personal/sick days then?

Advice to Management

Not the best sellers make the best leaders. If someone on your team is showing leadership skills, help that person move up in the company.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits were fantastic: great insurance, fully-funded pension plan, large amount of PTO, constant raises. A lot of these perks were likely forced by the communication workers union but it seemed as though they cared for their employees.

    Cons

Quotas galore, everything that could possibly be measured and tracked was.
Upper management made questionable decisions putting profitability above customer satisfaction.
Not much career advancement opportunity unless you live/want to relocate to their headquarters in TX/GA.

    Advice to Management

For a truly exemplary and consistent customer service experience, get rid of commission.

    Pros

Everyone is friendly and willing to help out. The program is structured so that we get exposure to multiple areas of the company.

    Cons

Often, there are not significant projects to work on and you end up simply trailing someone for the duration of your time there.

    Advice to Management

Overall very positive environment to work
