Pros

Abbott laboratories supports internal promotions for employees and offers many opportunities to move around the company if someone so chooses. Abbott is a well respected company within the pharmaceutical industry

Cons

As with many pharmaceutical companies, stability can be an issue as drugs lose patent. Abbott has an average pipeline and a lower than average industry starting salary. Abbott does not generally have or allocate as many direct-to-consumer marketing dollars for their products to effectively sell them against competitors in the market.
