I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch full-time (More than a year)

Pros

FLEXIBILITY, employees helping employees, quality in clothes

Cons

uneducated immature managers, so much work so little pay, no reviews/no promotion, sweat shop operated company, managers talk about other managers n co workers within the company, highest overturn rate in employees co always hiring cuz employees leaves within 2 to 3 months, building closets and doing floor moves in 100 degree temp in store, NO BENEFITS,so much to list...

Advice to Management

hire mature educated adults and secretly monitor those young managers that works in your store, decrease work load for minimum wage employees an increase work load for salaried managers cuz their not doing anything but chitchatting bout their personal life

I have been working at Abercrombie & Fitch part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great retail experience, diverse work environment, fun and carefree nature in store, you get discounts at all four stores (A&F, a&f, Hollister, & Gilly Hicks),

    Cons

If you live in California, taxes; sometimes managers are not easy to work with, certain stores don't get the best hours

    Pros

Prolific opportunities for advancement within the company and amazing opportunities for global placements. Company culture is young, fun and relaxed.

    Cons

Everything bad that you've heard about A&F is true. Although senior management should be trying to rid the company of issues such as sexualization of young models, an emphasis on a narrow idea of beauty over actual performance and a lack of real diversity, they actually seem to be proud of them. Only if you can ignore the lack of any values or morality in this company will you be able to enjoy the pros of working there. Oh, and try to work here if you're not what they consider attractive...

    Advice to Management

Completely scrap the vision and direction of Mike Jeffries if you want you sales in the US to stop declining. Your current marketing style may still attract shoppers in some countries, but take it from someone in your key demographic, we find the whole atmosphere of the stores overwhelming (the music, the fragrance) and the whole culture unsettling. It's time for another overhaul, this time without Mr. Jeffries at the helm.
