I worked at AbleTo full-time (More than a year)

Pros

1) They supposedly find the clients for you
2) Flexible hours
3) Good online training
4) Admin support is great

Cons

This company expects you to provide service at their beck and call and reserve hours for them without pay. If this is the future of online therapy, I don't want to be part of it.

The senior management have provided misleading statements about service and ability to provide clients to therapists. 80% of the time their software for providing service doesn't work . Technology is outdated and therapists are placed to blame for cookie-cutter programs.

The company also pays way below industry standards. They claim quality control in their programs but they have no idea what's it is like to use their own product!!

Advice to Management

Update your technology, pay fairly, don't expect your contractors to reserve time for you if you are not going to provide clients and pay for loss time

    Pros

    Meaningful work. Marketing not necessary to get clients. Paired with therapists and some are enjoyable to work with.

    Cons

    Maximum of 25 hours and receive fewer hours than available. Paid for sessions with participants and case conferences, additional communication is not reimbursed.

    I worked at AbleTo part-time

    Pros

    Completely remote. Coaching done primarily through phone with some video. Coaches set their own hours. Coordinating with LCSWs who are designated as Therapist.

    Cons

    *How many clients you are assigned will vary each month. Although coaches are told there are new accounts coming that would result in greater case loads, this did not manifest.
    *Coaches are not valued. The company is paid only for therapy sessions and uses the presence of coaches in treatment to make their program seem superior to other programs. However, coaches are paid significantly less than therapists and are expected to fill in the gaps of capability and commitment on the part of the therapists.
    *Repeatedly and frequently coaches are expected to begin a coaching session without notes from the therapist and have to take on an issue that should be the responsibility of the therapist.
    *Training and development is solely for therapists. The company offers nothing related to development of coaching skills.
    *The clinical supervisors and therapists are inconsistent in their willingness to collaborate with coaches.
    *Some clinical supervisors will try to dig into your personal life and then disappear and then share the information you shared with them at their request with others without your permission.
