I have been working at Academy Sports & Outdoors part-time (More than a year)

Pros

If you are in a department that you are knowledgable about then the job comes easy and there is less stress because you can answer customers questions confidently.

Cons

If you get put in hunting and fishing and you have never done either it's a problem. Also, retail is retail so there will be tedious tasks asked of you.

Advice to Management

Saying thank you to an employee that performed a task that was initially assigned to you would go a long way.

    Pros

Incredible discounts, they work with your schedule, tuition reimbursement, good coworkers, decent work-life balance, okay pay. Some managers are great while others are so-so. A lot of college kids work here so it's a fun work environment and most of the customers that visit on a regular basis are understanding of the difficulties of retail and are respectful.

    Cons

Favoritism among managers, at times irrational scheduling, work-load can be at times challenging, and inconsistency in expectations and presentation between corporate and first-line managers.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be more consistent and show employees you care,
