    Positive Outlook

I have been working at AcademyHealth full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    People are pretty welcoming.
There are some awesome coworkers and fun in-office get-togethers.
Laid back environment with quite a lot of schedule flexibility, which works well for maternity leave, family needs, and other personal issues.
    Majority women-run.
Pay is reasonable, benefits are great.
Most have the ability to telework after the first year.
Most are willing to help others with learning about different areas of the company or different jobs within it.
Ability to move sideways within the company.
    Pleasant atmosphere, usually very happy.

    Cons

Too many people doing a job one person could do alone, meaning there are individuals without work to do.
    Cattiness/Cliquishness.
Operations doesn't understand Program side, Program side doesn't understand Operations side.
Departments are too small which means if one person is out you basically no longer have that department.
There are some who have been promoted simply for tenure, not ability.
Ridiculously complex and involved interview/hiring process for all positions. (telephone interviews, in person interviews, applications, tests, writing sample submissions, requirement of a degree, all for a very minor position)
VERY high turnover rate for research assistant positions and administrative positions.
Terrible communication between Program side and Operations side leads to huge planned meetings that no one on the Operations side knows about until the day of.

    Advice to Management

Expand the operations departments: Accounting, Membership/Registration, and Human Resources.
Have more interaction between the sides of the company.
Listen more to the whispers and keep upper level people from becoming too arrogant.
    More general consistency.
Don't put people in charge who are wishy-washy, especially in leadership.
Don't create new positions when one person in that area already doesn't have enough work to do

Important mission, advancing the field of HSR and health policy

    Cons

Resistant to change, but then when there are changes they are not well-planned or executed
