I have been working at Accenture full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great people, Excellent large scale projects, Marquee clients, Good process. Good place to start career.

Cons

Pay is lower than industry average, Performance rating is not fair, Long hours, No work life balance, Firm mentality, Promotions are based on the tenure at a particular account/client. Not a good place for expirienced hires.

    Excellent compensation package for entry level analyst, performance additionally rewarded in form of monetary reward points throughout the year, interesting and engaging work, executives friendly and approachable, all employees receive assigned career counselors and mentors, informational and accessible online portal, set professional objectives at the beginning of the fiscal year to be highly respected firm with a solid reputation

    Cons

    Training in Chicago not currently available to those in the services workforce.

    I worked at Accenture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Accenture is a good place to learn and start your career and has a lot of projects domestic and international. There is also a training budget that consultants can use but you will need to get approval from career counselor, project manager, and Human resource.

    Vacation days are 25 days not including holidays and you can carry over a lot of it to the next fiscal year. There is no mandatory volunteering or extracurricular activity that you have to do outside of your project work. There's a lot of communities that you can be a part of and a lot of company sponsored happy hour that you can go to meet people.

    Cons

    Promotion is based on who you know and not the work that you do. They will give you an excuse for not promoting you or giving you a raise and it will not be based on your productivity. Some of the excuses they have given over the years is "we are forecasting that next year will not be as profitable so raises are scarce this year", or "you joined the project at a bad time and so we can't give you a promotion even though you been with the company for 2 years but next year you will definitely get a promotion to consultant", etc anything to try to get their money's worth even though Accenture is already low-balling a lot of their consultants at a low salary already. You can be billable for 150% and be rated as meet expectations with 2% average raises. The fastest way to get promoted would be start networking and as long as the managers like you, you will get promoted its not the work that you do.

    If you are in federal sector you will have a really hard time to move to North America. Consulting will get paid more then Services, and Services workforce gets paid more then Solutions. Of course you will be traveling a lot for consulting, services 50% or less, and solutions will have no travel. But, once you are in a workforce it will be a hassle to transfer to another one because you need approval from your current workforce management and HR.

    Advice to Management

    Recognize the people that actually put in the work and give them the promotion/raises that they deserve.
