Pros

1. Opportunities
2. Compensation
3. Travel
4. Role
5. Training

Cons

It is very project specific. If you land in a project which is in red; your appraisals, social life, work hours and sanity......they all go for a toss!

Advice to Management

1.Organize skip-a-level meetings for open discussion regarding the pros and cons of your boss.
2. Appraisal interview should not be with just your boss but also with your subordinates and peers (360 degree reviews)

I worked at Accenture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some great people - very good training (yearly budget and level training).
    Good socially.

    Cons

Every year 15-20% of all levels are forced / 'recommended' to leave.

Managerial levels have to 'ladder' people across all projects and clients - (ie put all employee's into positions, of which the bottom 15-2-% will then be managed out).

Senior Management trying to get promoted to Senior Executive/Partner level - are extremely difficult as their only focus is on their promotion rather than the good of the client or management of people working for them.

Work/Work balance rather than work/life balance especially at managerial levels where any pretence of 'great place to work' are completely discarded.

Very political - not always for the benefit of the client.

    Advice to Management

Your Senior Management team are failing you - overly focused on positioning for Senior Executive promotion and are failing their Management team and subsequent other levels as well as the clients.

I worked at Accenture full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You will learn more than you can imagine, enjoy great camraderie and diversity of experience. There is no better business school than being dropped into different companies and learning about the operational and organizational problems and being part of the team that resolves them.

    Cons

The travel is extensive. I spent 5 years living in a suitcase. It was exciting at first but it begins to take a toll on your personal life. Your career depends on how good a career counselor you have and you will work with some excellent people and some who have no business being in the industry. It's mostly positive. Work/life balance is simply non-existent. The culture is driven by deadlines and you can't move ahead unless you drink the cool aid.

    Advice to Management

Managing Directors (aka Partners, aka Senior Executives) are not always in tune with the needs of their reports. They are driven by budget and not hesitant to demand huge inconveniences and sacrifices from their direct reports. As a junior person you simply cannot refuse.
