I have been working at Accenture full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Accenture might not rank 1st in each of the various management and systems integration consulting domains, but no other consultancy can match Accenture's reach and influence. Once the Booze acquisition is finalized, I think a strong case can be made for Accenture being the worlds most important consulting organization.

Cons

Travel can get taxing, but that's part of the lifestyle we've all chosen in the management consulting profession.

I worked at Accenture full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Training, support, opportunity to grow professionally are all areas that the firm does an excellent job in. Company also supports community activities to bring together all of the staff from multiple offices for day long meetings to share information about current activities and future plans. Good way for staff to network with one another.

    Cons

Travel, long work days, work on weekends when a proposal is due. Work on a major bid response can mean many weeks away from home and many long days in the office, day after day.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to mid-level managers who are not good managers and should not be in a management role.

"Unless you are fresh out of college, working for this company as an experience hire is career purgatory..."

I worked at Accenture full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great technologies used on innovative projects.
    - Lots of training
    - Lots of Travel if you want it, if you don't you will have a hard time finding local gig

    Cons

    - You do not get to pick your projects
    - More often than not, you are asked to work with a technology you never worked with, and get it done unrealistically quick
    - You WILL eventually meet a project manager who is an egregious megalomaniac who will kill your career. Too many young managers who haven't a clue.
    - You will need to get on the good side of your manager to get a good review....this can sometimes be impossible if you get stuck with a megalomaniac as noted in previous notepoint.
    - Promotion/rating process is ridiculous. If you like being rated by an anonymous bunch of people in the ivory tower, this company is for you...

    Advice to Management

You will not retain your top talent, only losers that know how to play the system and are chameleons in the corporate world.
