Pros

People, culture, PTO, diverse experience for people fresh out of college. Great first job
Highly motivate team mates
Travel for those who want to see the world
Training opportunities

Cons

Bloated corporation
Top heavy - limiting in career trajectory and goals
Treated as a number
Self proclaimed meritocracy, but overly political
Work life balance limited
Not good for people who want to have home lives, a happy wife, or children
They stretch the meaning if the words "local role"

Advice to Management

Stop reorganizing, give promotions you promise, focus on cultivating your people and not only pleasing your shareholders (many of whom are actually employees).

    Pros

Tons of opportunity to learn and grow through both training and job role options. All employees at all levels are smart, interesting and nice people.

    Cons

It can be difficult to maintain work-life balance in the consulting workforce as nearly full-time travel is all but required. With effort it is possible to somewhat moderate out-of-town time, but it does take special effort and cannot always be achieved.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the virtual workplace--the most difficult point for employee retention is the travel. This is usually easier on lower-level employees who tend to be younger and have fewer family obligations. Over time the shine wears off the travel and marriage, children, ageing parents and so on make it difficult to keep up the travel.
