Pros

Offers great benefits for employees. Is good at placing you on contracts where your talents can be used well. Also have good online tools for further training.

Cons

Not a lot of communication with the home office if you work off site.

Advice to Management

Keep in touch more regularly with off site employees.

I worked at Acentia as a contractor

    Pros

The autonomy and great teamwork. Also, very flexible hours.

    Cons

Your job is based on the current contract, leaving it open to unexpected team cuts.

    Advice to Management

Win multi-year contracts to allow employees with a long term tenure.

I have been working at Acentia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They've managed to get some good contracts, so there's good opportunities as a government contractor. The actual positions have much less to do with Acentia and much more to do with whatever team you get placed on.

    Cons

Ever since they were bought by Maximus, they do not care about employees. You are simply a number to them. Neither management nor HR communicate effectively and then penalize you for things they never bothered to tell you. If I didn't love my job and the team I work with (NOT all acentia), I would be out of there in a heartbeat.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like people and not like a means to an end (government contracts) and you'd be very surprised by the bump in performance.
