I have been working at Advance America full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

It is not a difficult job and the hours are decent. They are closed on Sundays, so that will always be one of your days off.

Cons

It can be a little monotonous at times. There is a lot of pressure to collect debts from people, which isn't always pleasant, but it is part of the job.

Advice to Management

It would be nice if there were more of a chance to progress and if all center managers had the chance to view district and regional managerial opportunities.

I worked at Advance America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Once a customer gets a payday loan, they are usually 'hooked' for life. Research about the payday lending industry to learn more. Stores are not open past 7 pm or on Sundays usually.

    Cons

Regional Managers fire at least one Divisional Manager every year to show they are 'doing their job'. Divisional Managers will fire up to four store Managers every year - not from issues with them usually - but from pressure of RD to do so. If a DM stands up for their employees, they should expect to be the one heading out the door. The company does not like management employees to gain much tenure. Many experienced store managers, DMs and RMs have been weeded out - fire higher paid managers and bring in new ones who will work cheaper.

    Advice to Management

Losing experienced employees in order to cut expenses is NOT the way to run a business. Most store staff members have a close relation with their customers, and losing those employees greatly impact the business.

I worked at Advance America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I learned that I don't ever want to work for a company that has a core business consisting of payday loans.

    Cons

Negative environment with a LOT of turnover. No 401k match, benefits and salary are below average.Spent most of my days in poorly organized meetings that were nothing but a waste of time.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to go to the trouble to dress professionally then act professionally. Kill the meetings. It just makes you look more obtuse than you already are. And improve your benefits and compensation.
