I have been working at Advance Auto Parts full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Most employees do their jobs.
The GM will help you attain your goal if you do your job.
The company is stable and you need not worry about the business closing.

Cons

Hours and days change almost weekly making it hard to plan anything.
Hard to get 40 hours a week even at full-time.
Be sure the work load is shared or you will be the one doing most of the work.

Advice to Management

Better control of how many employees and work hours/days.

    Pros

Advance has a lot of great perks, very involved in local communities, liberal "work from home" policy, casual/business casual environment

    Cons

I can only remember ONE person actually retiring from Advance, and he worked in the DC. Too many people leave after lengthy careers with the company because of the turmoil. Every 3 years or so there is another shift in Leadership, so there is no true consistency in the organization. Advance still thinks they can be a Retail and a Wholesale market leader because the people they have in Leadership positions don't know the automotive business and don't realize they can't be all things to all customers.

    Advice to Management

Exit surveys might help, of course you'll have to hire more people to complete them at the rate people are leaving.

I worked at Advance Auto Parts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not much that I would be able to put into this category. Working condition were poor and employee atmosphere was even poorer.

    Cons

There was approxiamately a 80% turnover rate of the employees upon a monthly basis. The expectations for their hourly employees was nearly impossible to acheive on a daily basis.

    Advice to Management

Give credit to those that warrant it. Do not base acheivement level soley off of meeting quarterly numbers.
