I worked at Advance Auto Parts full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

High pay (depending on position and experience), great and affordable benefits, good work atmosphere, and co-workers who are great.

Cons

Higher ups want sales minimums, even though you cannot control who comes into or calls the store; higher ups are VERY disconnected with the store level; employee retention is almost non-existent; and instead of transferring, they would rather let people go.

Advice to Management

Try working a few weeks at the Store level, listen to employees as opposed to what 'reports' say/show, don't tell employees that their job is on the line when it comes to sales (especially when they have no control over who walks in the door).

    fun coworkers, awesome people at the local auto repair shops

    Cons

    Computer systems are slow and outdated, the amount of hours that are given and SUPER LOW. low pay. Impossible to finish tasks given with time given.

    Advice to Management

    QUIT BEING IMITATORS AND START BEING INNOVATORS. The company wants SALES, who Produces sales? Store personnel!!! Quit acting like Walmart and cutting hours to save money. you have a TERRIBLE STAFFING TEMPLATE!!!! if you think having 3 people in a store at a time is enough to bring in $8k a day... your sadly mistaken... A store should have 3 retail employees, and 3 commercial personnel that's including the CPP, and a store GM from 7-5, and 3 closing personnel each night with the exception of Sunday. This in part will have ALL phone calls covered, all Walk-in Customer covered, and all commercial covered. If customers are all happy, then this increases production sales and Make us look like THE DOMINATING FORCE IN THE AUTO PART INDUSTRY, Autozone is always covered.... this is possibly why they're stock is worth WAY MORE THAN OURS.
