Pros

great pay, great employees at all stores. great customer response. fun job.

Cons

supervisors were not always excessable. more consistant working days. slow at some times of the month not good for us who travel to stores

    I worked at Advantage Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Schedule flexibility. Interacting with the stores and building relationships with the workers there was the part I missed the most when I left.

    Cons

    No raises and poor vehicle reimbursement. Poor preparation by management for rolling out new programs. Their method is the "shoot, ready , aim" method that comes with a lack of attention to detail. This is also a byproduct of upper management not knowing what the merchandisers really do in the field on a daily basis. Lack of management consideration for employee issues-they just tell you that's the way it is and if you are unhappy, maybe you should get another job! I eventually took my supervisor's advice and left the company after 10 months.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your field people as they are the face of the company to the store owners and managers. Spend more time finding real solutions to field issues and less patting each other on the back and telling each other what a great job you all are doing when your field people get the target numbers. Give your merchandisers the freedom to do what they need to do in the different markets to get the job done!

    I have been working at Advantage Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    As a rep visiting retailers there are ample opportunities to meet new people and see different areas. The work is roughly 65% routine and boring but the remaining time can be interesting as the tasks are to secure additional placements for client products without paying for it. From clip strips to end caps and everything in between. There is continual pressure to produce promotional results as well as sell product.

    Cons

    The rewards are a joke. Salaries are minimal, reps start at under $12 per hour with advancement and salary increases virtually non existent. Benefits are far too expensive for anyone in this pathetic salary range. The firm has little ability to communicate in a professional and team driven manner and acts accordingly. Further, your home becomes a company warehouse for promo items as well as your car, your cell phone usage is not reimbursed nor is there any mention of using your personal computer for business activity.

    Advice to Management

    The salaries are pathetically low. Benefits are not affordable. Wake up. When the economy turns around two thing will happen: You will quickly loose your top reps...who will be replaced by people who are worth paying $12 per hour.
