I have been working at Advocate Health Care part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

I love working with children, and I have the greatest co-workers ever!!

Cons

We are often short staffed due to turn-over, people dropping to part-time. It takes forever to replace lost staff which is frustrationg.

Advice to Management

Bring back better bonuses.. We need better nurse to patient ratios. Stop raising the cost of benefits, it makes it so getting a raise only paise for the increased amount your paying for your healthcare, you feel like you aren't ever getting ahead.

I worked at Advocate Health Care part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a mental health counselor on the inpatient psychiatric unit. One thing I have to say is they really have their stuff together. If you're in trouble with a patient who's actively psychotic, they've got your back. I like the way they work the unit. They do a good job. Kudos.

    Cons

Way too many "clicks" among employees. I just want to go to work, do the best job I can and go home. I sometimes wonder how a person got their job in this field and it's beyond me how he's remained in his position. There are also people who have power plays going on in regards to seniority, but if you can get past all that childness, it's an okay place to work because the patients make it okay.

    Advice to Management

Try following through on the advice you give to your employees and lead by example, The manager that was there when I left DEFINITELY had favorites and this just does not work for me.

I worked at Advocate Health Care full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Twenty years of service at multiple sites with in the system. Fantastic coworkers and long time friends and colleagues. Highly recommended

    Cons

Difficult for long term employees to move a head and get promotions. Become pigeon holed after a period and need to leave to grow professionally.

    Advice to Management

    Take risks
