Cons

Advice to Management

Actually adhere to the ethics goals you shove down our throats. Do not hire supervisors and managers who have never been in health care or even know what forms are utilized to bill claims. Favoritism, the Arizona locations wrote the book on favoritism. Sitting at your desk and working are not as important to claims supervisors as fund raising, game playing, and pumpkin carving. The Mercy Care Plan is so mismanaged, all smoke and mirrors. Health conditions aggravated by coworkers are dismissed as not important. Assault of an an employee by a manager in compliance was ignored for 6 months. They do not enforce their own HR policies. They know they don't have to treat their staff well, with the job market everyone is scared of saying anything. Reporting issues to your manager or supervisor results in retaliation. EVERY time. The health benefits for their own employees are unaffordable.

    Pros

Aetna has a good culture, it treats employees as people not numbers. Lots of health and community based perks. Employees are in charge of how far and where they go in the company for the most part. This hands off approach may not be for everyone, since it can seem like management has no interest in your upward mobility. Once you understand that you are the leader of your career, they will follow you and support you in your journey.

    Cons

Pay is a bit low for the complexity of the work. Not all perks provided have value to all persons, would rather some perks be optional and higher base pay. Bonuses are granted quarterly. The criteria for bonuses are somewhat conflicting with each other, so very difficulty if not impossible to earn max bonus.

    Advice to Management

Provide a more straight forward compensation scheme, not all perks carry the same value to every person. Get rid of the "carrot & stick" bonus, and just do increases based on performance.
