I have been working at Agilent Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Good company that has a wide breadth of products including many cutting edge products. Have provided me opportunities to travel the world, learn new things, tranfer to different job functions.

Cons

Good company but not HP. Company sometimes makes some strange decisions. Been through few round of layoffs and seen some people be let go that just did not make sence.

Advice to Management

Stop thinking your going to make test and measurement into a growth Business At least not in and of itseft. But it is a great business to be in that position Agilent to be able to develop and launch new technologies and other businesses. This is how HP grew. Take some risks.

I worked at Agilent Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They do some cool stuff, and the employees there are top-notch (for now). A great place to learn.

    Cons

The company is so focused on reducing costs that the employees are starting to suffer. Persistent layoffs, changes in pay policies() that are never to the advantage of the employees. They want top-notch engineers on an average salary.

    Advice to Management

Balance the needs of the employees with the needs of the stockholders.

I have been working at Agilent Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work/life balance is great. This would be a good place to work if you have a family. Culture is also great - individual contributors really want to help each other.

    Cons

Benefits erode just about each year. Pay is completely substandard for software engineers in the bay area. Wofkforce is aging, which means that while there's a lot of experience, there's not as much creativity. Retention of younger employees is pretty low.

    Advice to Management

Hire some new people! Transfer the knowledge from your aging workforce before it's too late. Focus less on your beloved ROIC, because that sole focus is making everything else suffer.
