I have been working at Akamai full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Interacts effectively with various levels of the organization. Treats others’ opinions with respect. Management offers assistance proactively and shares information that helps others do their job well. Probes to understand and confirms understanding of what is heard. Often encourages employee to innovate.

Cons

Hires too many project manager to create lots of process that often gets in the way of innovation.

Advice to Management

The unmanageable, non-productive and remote employees, who are 'resting and vesting' without adding value to the team will end up discouraging the truly talented and hard working employees.

I worked at Akamai full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The salaries are above verage and their CEO Paul Sagan has done an excellent job to build a company to last. The management team has done an admirable job expanding the product line and customer base.

    Cons

Paul Sagan is leaving and some talented individuals have also left the company.

    Advice to Management

Keep your eye on the target and the competition. We have been losing talent.

I worked at Akamai as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Intelligent co-workers, great location, autonomy (even as an intern), flexible work schedule, good compensation, large range of technology (my team worked with many types of programming languages). The intern program had many opportunities to meet some of the top directors of the company.

    Cons

Intern program had limited opportunities to network with the other interns. Stressful at times during large deadlines. Office space can be cramped on certain floors.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
