I worked at Alaska Airlines part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Employee's really do care about the customers and definitely travel experience is wonderful. The friendships turn into close family protective committed unity. The bond of love for work and family carries the work load pass the above and beyond mark. Truly the foundation of Alaska Airline holds true today! Caring, Customer Service, and Loyalty that's Alaska.

Cons

The stress of the airline business is the reality at Alaska as well.
Pilot strikes cause delays or cancelation and that makes the public
very stressful to work with, which robs the whole travel experience
awful.

Advice to Management

Continue to acknowledge the efforts and hard work the employees do. Add bonus's and incentives to help compensate to harshness of the stress the public puts on the employees.
Give back upgrade decision making to employees to customers to bring back repeat business. It's the little things that count!!

I have been working at Alaska Airlines full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Not a highly stressful culture, good peers (for the most part) and flight perks are handy.

    Cons

Not very visionary leadership, obsessed so much with the operation that there is no room to be a great airline.

    Advice to Management

Show some vision in where you want the airline to go in the next 5-7 years, don't continually repeat the same 'focus on doing what we do well' message.

I have been working at Alaska Airlines as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The internship really exposes you to all the aspects of how an airline company is run on a daily basis.

    Cons

Down time when managers are overly busy.
