Pros

lots of pto/sick/annual and very flexible with hours in some offices not all. Easy work as a level 3 secretary. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help

Cons

Working the district office has a lot of clicks and groups and if your not in the upper management the pay is not so good.

Advice to Management

Treat your employee's like people and not like your personal slaves.

I have been working at Albuquerque Public Schools full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of training opportunities, lots of open positions for teachers

    Cons

District departments need to be linked- they are disconnected.
Some schools need a building remodel.
Schools vary in terms of systems and quality of staff- you have to find the right fit for you.

    Advice to Management

Get into the schools- talk to the staff.

    Pros

Fellow teachers will help a subsituite, who struggles in classroom management. Administrators will

    Cons

260 days a week. Not bad right? Wrong! APS is bent out of shape. They xpect way too much of their employees, who are already stretched thin.

    Advice to Management

Be a subsitute teacher, before you consider working in administration to get an idea of how difficult it is manage a classroom and manage your department/school.
