I have been working at Allied Building Products full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Good Benifits, Good hours, Great Co-Workers

Cons

Poor managment at the senoir level not branch level. And dishonest projections of perks to be offered

Advice to Management

When you hire people to let them know what the real aspects of their job are going to be and dont promise someone a certain set of hours and perks if after only 6 months none of that is going to be true

I have been working at Allied Building Products full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay made me make the move.

    Cons

People, attitude, lack of training, no direct over site of branch managers which leads to a bad culture, fear selling, personal improvement plans, etc. the expected quota is double what competitors (marvic, bradco, Harvey) expect which leads to high turnover.

    Advice to Management

Merge branches and eliminate pointless branch managers that are only sitting around collecting a paycheck. Put in place regional sales managers to control the sales force. Get the advisers at corp to open their eyes to the big picture of what's not going on at the 250 plus branches.

I worked at Allied Building Products full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Huge company, opportunity for advancement. Outside Sales offers a lot of freedom.

    Cons

The freedom comes with lack of direction and no real sales training from upper management. it's easy to feel "lost" on the outside. Upper management (in the Chicagoland region) only cares about the top dollar and makes empty promises.

    Advice to Management

At least act like you really care about the success of your sales people...treat them with respect.
