I worked at Allstate full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

A lot of development opportunities especially early on, lots of opportunity to move around to different finance areas, quickly learn basic corporate finance skills that translate to other departments and industries easily

Cons

after a few years your progress/ development stagnates, start to feel like you are re-doing the same project over and over b/c management does not have a clear picture of what they want, start to feel like the work you're doing adds no value

Advice to Management

focus more on the big picture and the end goal and try to work towards it instead of getting caught up in the smaller details

    Pros

Compensation, benefits, work environment, honest dealings with customers & agents , Agency Proposition Value is best in class with opportunity to create generational wealth. Great support , if you want to be with the best then join Allstate.

    Cons

Sometimes in the cross hairs of public due to general view of insurance industry, general peeks & valley's of business, can't say anything else negative. It's all Good.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing now, don't over complicate things, stay focused on the 2 most important cog's: Customers & Agent's who support our shared vision

I worked at Allstate full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The financial services model ONLY works when the financial guy (EFS) is teamed with agencies that will actually produce the numbers of referrals you need to make production goals. Only the big agencies make it worth while--but there are not enough to go around. Be sure the group that will be assigned to you have a credible financial production history!

    Cons

Problem is, the large producing agencies are already paired with with existing (fat cat) EFSs. The new guys will only get the poor performing, struggling agencies that nobody wants to work with. The guy trying to hire you gets a bonus for hiring more and more. Allstate motivates local managers to hire more than they can actually support with adequate referrals.

    Advice to Management

Be fair and honest. Only hire a new EFS when they can be paired with a group of agencies with a history of adequate financial production that can make minimum goals. Spread the wealth (producing agencies) fairly among area EFSs.
