I worked at Allstate full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Descent benefits and the company believes in work/balance life. There are opportunities for telecommuting or working from home a couple of days every week. The people are friendly and willing to help.

Cons

For the past several years the company has been outsourcing work and downsizing. That has led to a workload issue for the remaining resources. The keeps stating we have to do more with less. This has caused some morale issues in areas that have heavy workloads and not enough resources.

Advice to Management

Either reduce the number of projects to lessen the pressure and stress on resources or hire more people.

I have been working at Allstate full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You can set your own hours if you have staff. You cannot if you do not have staff.

    Cons

You do not own your book. Independent agents (IAs) who represent Allstate do. Independent agents are paid almost twice the commission rate Allstate agents receive. Do the math. Independent agents get a loss ratio bonus that can exceed 100,000 on a million dollar book. Allstate agents do not receive a loss ratio bonus like this. Commission rates are reportedly going down next year for Allstate Agents. Do the math.

    Advice to Management

Treat captive agents like you treat independent agents
