I worked at Allstate full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Descent benefits and the company believes in work/balance life. There are opportunities for telecommuting or working from home a couple of days every week. The people are friendly and willing to help.

Cons

For the past several years the company has been outsourcing work and downsizing. That has led to a workload issue for the remaining resources. The keeps stating we have to do more with less. This has caused some morale issues in areas that have heavy workloads and not enough resources.

Advice to Management

Either reduce the number of projects to lessen the pressure and stress on resources or hire more people.

    Pros

flexible work schedule, still offers medical/dental and vision coverage

    Cons

continuous rocking of the boat--pensions, salaries--which breeds fear among the employees

    Advice to Management

The company sells peace of mind, yet has recently reduced benefits and is now moving toward salary reductions, rattling the people who service the customer. When will senior management see their salaries reduced?

    Cons

Matrix organization has its own challenges.

    Advice to Management

Business and IT relationship needs to be improved
