Pros

Many opportunities, exposure to the corporate world, Allstate offers many discounts to employees, great place to work for single parents, work life balance coach. Great benefits, They pay you for getting preventative health care check ups. Work from home opportunities, they care about work life balance.

Cons

Salary is for 40 hours but the nature of things calls for more than the 40 hours.

I have been working at Allstate full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is a well known and very large company with many resources. You get to interact with people on a daily basis on the sales end.

    Cons

The compensation is less than it's competitors on average, and it definitely isn't a small time feel company if you like your job to be a close-knit place.

    Advice to Management

Look into better training exercises, and look to pay your hard-working employees a better and more competitive wage.

  2. "The company no longer cares about people, only the next quarterly results."

I worked at Allstate full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

PTO, work from home options. The work life balance is ok in some departments and under good managers. Benefits are good, but the employees pay more than at other companies.

    Cons

Senior people are being laid off on a regular basis and done in a manner that the company does not need to report it. Salary below industry standards. The employees are looking over their shoulders wondering if they will be in the next batched to be walked out the door. Extremely low moral. Very little advancement. The good ole boy system is in full swing even thought the company has tried to get away from it.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of Tom Wilson. Stop looking for the results at the end of the next quarter and focus on long term results. When I started in '99 there were 40,000 employees and 12,500 agents, Today there are 30,000 employees and 8,500 agents. At this rate the company will disappear in a few more years. Stop changing benefits. How many people left last year due to the change in the pension plan? If my calculations are correct 90% of the employees over the age of 55 and had more than 20 years with the company retired. In some states that was close to 40% of the employees. It's no wonder the work load is so high, items are being processed slow and the employees that are left are looking for new jobs.
