I worked at Alpern Rosenthal full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good clients, provides exposure to a number of different industries. AR also provides the ability to move around laterally within the firm.

Cons

Despite providing ample vacation time, the firm often makes it difficult to use it due to staffing issues and employee turnover which leads to overworking those who stay.

Advice to Management

Hire an abundance of staff, the attrition rate in public accounting is a known issue and it should be addressed appropriately.

    Pros

I worked at this company when it was Alpern Rosenthal. The benefits were generous. I do not have much to say.

    Cons

Very fast-paced environment. So fast that the employees act like robots and push out tax returns like machines on an assembly line. Not a friendly atmosphere. If you enjoy a very disciplined environment and clocking in and out, then this is your company.

    Advice to Management

Although you may promise a fast turn around to your clients, you need to slow it down so the employees can take a break.

I have been working at Alpern Rosenthal full-time

    Pros

Flex hours during summer, 2 week leave for excess hours worked in audit season and social events

    Cons

Limited flexibility - Not much opportunity to move within organization or seek projects you would like to do
Very high expectations - They expect you to perform from your first day of the job
No appreciation from manager/partners - You will not get good reviews for nice job done or progress made
Tight environment - People are not very friendly and tend to remain in their own group

    Advice to Management

Should be more open for suggestions and give chance to junior management to progress
