    Pros

they have competive pay. they have a good grasp on safety. they have good benifits. they have a good match on the retirement.

    Cons

one downside could be that alpha natural resources is buying out all other coal comanies and it could be hard to switch jobs in need be.

    Advice to Management

one thing could be that employees are notified of changes and news a little earlier. seems that new things are hidden a little longer than neccesarry sometimes.

I worked at Alpha Natural Resources full-time

    Pros

Most employees are excellent and quickly become like extended family. Fast paced and plenty to keep you busy.

    Cons

Alpha, like most large corporations, has a disconnect between the executive branch and those below them.

    Advice to Management

Ask questions to understand the processes involved and the conflicts created from decisions made. An effective manager utilizes their employees experience in dealing with daily operations. There is nothing wrong with an EVP asking an hourly person how a new process or policy is going to effect operations and possible alternatives.
