Pros

They pay ok and the people on the production floor are awesome. Might be able to work on different projects ar different locations.

Cons

Poor leadership at some of the facilities. Be careful of who you trust, very cut throat and at the end of the day it is a declining business which means layoffs or restructuring as they call it

Advice to Management

Continue what you are doing.

    Pros

Very supportive of continuing your education, actually required it. I know one person that was getting their MBA paid for. Worked with great people, projects were fun and rarely boring. Company did value diversity very highly and hired large numbers of women and minorities. All of my direct managers , men, women and/or minoritites were extremely good and very professional.

    Cons

More money than good sense. Came up with silly projects that would not work. Marketing came up with ideas that were outlandish and too expensive for the market place and the engineers had to make them work. Upper managment frequently out of touch and got bounses for projects that later were failures but never had to face consequences.

    Advice to Management

When the company made a plan to reduce head count in a logical and professional manner it would be best to follow it rather than just dump all the people at one time. Now the company is struggling with reduced headcount and increased workload on remaining people (who are still worried about losing their jobs). Even two years after the first layoffs most people are complaining that there is little direction and they do not know what they are supposed to be doing.

    Pros

Management is very understanding of personal needs and are willing to compromise when you need to take time off or change your work habits. There is a ton of autonomy. The people that work for this company are great.

    Cons

There is a lot of distance between senior management and reality. They often assign so many initiatives at once that it is nearly impossible to effectively execute some of them. Managements decisions do not make sense much of the time.

    Advice to Management

Get back in touch with selling and try to get a better understanding of how much can be done during a sales cycle.
