No opinion of CEO

I worked at Amedisys full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Some directors are understanding demands of job

Cons

New director with unrealistic expectations; did not respect difference in productivity numbers between psych and medical visits and threatened to reduce status to part-time if could not keep up the numbers; expected psych nurse to do upwards to 40 visits/week; told nurse she thought she was lying when car trouble was reported (very unprofessional) with no history of such behavior. Director did not conduct exit interview

Advice to Management

Please pay more attention to why long-term nurses leave company when management changes; require management to conduct exit interviews; tell directors they may not accuse employees of lying when they have legitimate car difficulty

I have been working at Amedisys full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some rooms for growth but if not done within a year or two, please leave ASAP. Anything after that is just going to be a lot of stress!

    Cons

Extremely poor leadership from Director of Operator! Director, Office Manager and Clinical Manager are all new hires with no previous experience! Reasons they got their job is due to connection from upper management. Office is falling apart because there's no communication and commitment. Office staff are over-work and under appreciated. And most importantly, there's no respect left for the Director from the staff! How can you run an office without the respect?

    Advice to Management

Please make sure you hire people that's capable of their job titles and responsibilities. Just because you like someone doesn't mean he/she is qualify for that position. Weak leadership and poor management will lead to destruction!

    Pros

    Patients.
Learn CMS, Oasis assessment, Case Management, keep up on your skills.

    Cons

You will be pressured to work long hours, and chart off the clock. No overtime allowed and all overtime has to be pre-approved (good luck with that!). You will NEVER have a predictable schedule, because if an admit comes in, you have to do it and your previous commitments to patients fly out the window. The most common complaint I get from patients is "you said the nurse would see me on X day" and that's often impossible, because yet another admission came up and you had to move your commitment to that patient to another day. Of course, you cant share this with patients, but the number one priority is Admits, Admits, Admits and patient care takes a back seat.
This company is focused on profits, profits, profits. If anything goes wrong, its always the Case Managers fault.
New RN hires I've spoken with are already biding their time and not planning to stay once they acquire some case management experience.
This is a good place to learn Case Management, but not to stay.

    Advice to Management

See above. Come up with realistic schedules and pay staff for the hours they actually work.
