I have been working at American Academy of PAs full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Nice enough offices, no overtime - workday ends by 4:45/5p. PA themselves (who are NOT the people who work for AAPA in Alexandria) are very nice and deserving of having a better organization work on their behalf.

    Cons

The organization for PAs is a nightmare and is embarrassingly out of date. The internal politics are unbelievably horrible. The leadership team are the worst, and the CEO is cray-cray. I don't understand how this group as they are can do anything positive for PAs. If you want to work in a place and in a role where you feel rewarded - where you like to think that everyone is focused on the same cause - look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

The general staff who does the heavy lifting are not your servants, who deserve to be ordered around to do only as you ask - particularly since we're not the ones pulling in the big salaries and outlandish bonuses.

I worked at American Academy of PAs full-time

      Pros

PAs are pleasant, hardworking people who seem to appreciate the efforts of staff. Alexandria location isn't bad.

      Cons

Senior management is moody, distrustful, and relies entirely too much on the input of hired consultants, including some who have a hand in every decision made by the CEO. Recently, due to prior bad real estate decisions, the office had to be redesigned in order to accomodate the large number of new hires. A difficult work environment was made worse when all cubicles (everyone except the very senior management is in...

      Advice to Management

Trust your team to do the job they were hired to do. Stop micromanaging every little decision. Choose one priority and stick with it.
