I have been working at American Airlines part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to see the world, flexible schedule

    Cons

You need to be able to budget your life with around 900 per month, the payment is 20.85 per hour plus a per diem, on top of that they only guarantee you 76-86 hours per month, please remember that you have to pay the regular goverment and federal taxes plus union fees so your take home is about 900 per month. No overtime

    Advice to Management

Provide the opportunity to work more hours as a new hire, after a potential candidate is investing time and their own money to stay in training for at least 8 1/2 unpaid weeks, spent own money to move, etc... It will be highly appreciate if the new hire can work more hours to put back money into their emergency fund.

I worked at American Airlines full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

None to be thought of, Unless you are retiring from the Air Force in this area and need a job to pay off your mortgage. Otherwise work somewhere else.

    Cons

Upper Management does not care about employees, Abilene location is nothing more than an Air Force retiree boys club with no chance for advancement, and constant harassment for any employee who is not retired from Dyess AFB or best of friends with the Mechanics that retired from Dyess AFB. Most of the crew chiefs are more worried about talking with each other, insulting all the mechanics who are not their pals, and playing on their cell phones than getting getting the job done. Company rules are only enforced on anyone who is not part of the "club". Do not bother with this location.

    Advice to Management

Lay off all Crew Chiefs and Supervisors, They are the main part of the problem
