I have been working at American Cancer Society full-time

Pros

-employees are there because they truly believe in the work
-great work/life balance
-laid back atmosphere

Cons

-organization has been going through massive structural changes that have negatively impacted employees
-such a strong emphasis on event-related work and income but little focus on other areas that have the potential to bring in more revenue, such as major gifts

Advice to Management

-strengthen areas of work that are weak (i.e. non-event related income; relationship-building and cultivation with individual and institutional donors; major gifts)

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at American Cancer Society full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    funded research and patient support

    Cons

While being the largest non-profit, there is a disturbing environment of bizarre politics, blatant favoritism, lack of opportunity and no raises for mid and low level employees. These
employees are taken for granted while expected to contribute their own money back to the organization and donate their time outside of work with no credit for doing so.

    Advice to Management

Upper executives make obscene salaries ought to reward their employees for a change.
