I worked at American Diabetes Association as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Super friendly staff
Very welcoming work environment (my fellow interns were awesome!)
Continual on-the-job training
Independent work -- at your own pace; learn how to manage time well and set priorities
Great for creative and self-motivated college students
Can create your own projects, and the directors were flexible enough to allow me to explore my interests

Cons

The work sometimes got a little mundane or repetitive
Rare interactions with "clientele"/volunteers

I worked at American Diabetes Association full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work environment is extremely laid back with a great work/life balance. You get to know the people you work with since you are working in a close environment.

    Cons

The management structure was unorganized at best and the retention rate is extremely poor. With a lot of turnover, consistency within the organization (mission, techniques, culture) was lost. This made for a frustrating career opportunity.

  2. "Work for a good cause, but its messy and unorganized"

    Cons

not organized, too traditional, not enough funds to properly develop teams and events

    Advice to Management

get more organized and take more chances
