Disapproves of CEO

Pros

Employee discounts and health benefits
Very competitive compensation plan

Cons

It starts at the top of the chain. Regional, district, store and then the assistant. Each link micromanages the next link. If you enjoy calling your DM everytime you do your job, then work at AE! Budget cuts started a few years ago. AE created their policy and procedures MANY years ago. Do not expect to be in compliance with floor coverage or help with task as there is no money to pay these people! Puayroll cut but expectations still remain! You must be magical to work here. Unrealstic deadlines and projects!! How can there possibly be a front greeter at all times, a fitting room host, a main cashier and a manager on duty if there are only two people working on a given shift?!! DM visits result in punishment in times like this because "Omg, I didn't get greeted when I got here". Really?? Well give some more payroll hours to the high volume stores who do $80k a month in sales!!

Advice to Management

Corporate needs to work in a high volume store for one weekend. Then the chain will stop there.

    Pros

Clothing discount and sometimes they offer cool prizes. Generally the people you work with are ok. Not a sit down type of job.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement. They tend to hire outside the company, or not replace at all Managers change a lot and sometimes offer useless knowledge.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    - 40% off staff discounts on regular priced items & 25% on clearance
    - Easy and not a stressful job
    - Great clothes

    Cons

    - Low workplace morale - everyone seems to be over the place
    - Boring & repetitive
    - Short shifts (but do not think I can do anything longer than 4 hours)
    - Store manager being unapproachable and not a friendly person - bad impression for a new comer to the company.

    Advice to Management

Store manager needs to be more friendly and approachable. The workplace should be a fun and enjoyable place to be otherwise everyone will feel tense and unhappy working there. There needs to be a focus on the development of the team. Company seems to involved with the $$$ rather than the people who are working for the company. Without us there wouldn't be any revenue made!
