I worked at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere! Clothing discount is amazing, good music, fun coworkers, and easy work. Plenty of incentives to work harder (contests, freebies), and every shift was unpredictable. I didn't have to go into work and do the exact same thing every day.

    Cons

I worked there for three years and got a total of .50 cents in pay raise. There was hardly any job advancement, and my managers were overworked, scary, and rude. They pressure you into selling "harmless" credit cards to everyone who walks in the door, and even if you were great at selling (which I was), you hardly see any job advancement or rewards. They hire WAY too many associates, and you'll be lucky to get more than 4 hours a week in January. There are very unrealistic expectations of daily goals, and the pressure to meet these expectations was extremely exhausting. I put a lot of work, energy, and devotion into that job, and my manual labor was not properly compensated.

    Advice to Management

Focus on hiring less and appreciate the associates you already have. Start giving better raises and hours based off of sales and not favoritism.

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

40% off Everything in store, great deal
Free Items in Store Contests, again awesome
    Always Busy

    Cons

Very Unorganized - Every week schedules are late
    Boring job
Do not pay attention to days needed off

    Advice to Management

Get organized, clean up the back room, pay attention to when a day is requested off, happened twice in a row where I had to work and I requested off weeks in advance
