I worked at American Eagle Outfitters full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

discounts, that's pretty much it, every now and then you may get a chance to win prizes

    Cons

there is a lot of favoritism and outside influences, tons of drama and unprofessional by management, no work life balance and expectation to do 60 hours of work in 40 hours

    Advice to Management

use the open door policy how it was intended. you can't use this to force others out because your upper management doesn't like someone, and confidential calls means that stop giving out info on the caller

I have been working at American Eagle Outfitters part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great clothing, good discounts (40-60% off), love my team, fun and hip environment, great repeat customers. When you're a manager you get lots of hours. If you look into it, you are able to get cell phone plan discounts, health insurance discounts, etc.

    Cons

It's very common to get 0-3 hours a week total as a sales associate. If you do not get credit card sign ups, you will get fewer hours. Some people may find this work repetitive and boring (i.e. folding and refolding clothes, stocking items, doing price markdowns). The pay is not good. If you are lucky after one year you will get a 25 cent raise. Even being a manager I only got $1 more per hour than regular employees.
